Thursday, March 20: President Trump Signed Executive Order to Abolish U.S. Department of Education

Tell Your Congresspersons and Senators Just How Vital Educational Standards, Supports, Special Education and Positive Outcomes Are to You and Your Family!

autism united DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION wisconsin AUTISM UNITED OF WISCONSINThe United States Department of Education traces its roots to 1867, when President Andrew Jackson created the first governmental entity. In 1979, under President Jimmy Carter, the goals expanded to improve access and performance for all U.S. students, pre-school to post-doctorate.

Importantly for all who have family members or are themselves on the Autism Spectrum, the Department’s mission includes “equal access for all.” This, of course, includes all students with disabilities.

President Trump’s executive order issued March 20 to abolish the Department of Education could pose a huge, negative impact to the positive impact, health and happiness of our kids, teens and adults.

A Presidential Executive Order CANNOT Abolish the Department of Education. Only an act of Congress can do that. Make your opposition known now!

If your child has received an IEP or 504 Plan, you know the positive impact special education can bring — and how vital the Department of Education can be for your child. Tell your Federal Representatives and Senators that they need to protect and preserve the Department of Education. The time to voice your opposition and concern is now!

PLEASE TELL WISCONSIN’S CONGRESSPERSONS AND SENATORS TO SAVE OUR EDUCATION!

WE NEED THE COURAGE TO KEEP GOING!
