Sensory-Friendly Sessions
Betty Brinn Children’s Museum offers countless opportunities for children to learn about and explore their world through play. Through interactive and hands-on, experiential learning exhibits, participants engage in real-time experimentation and exploration to see how things “work”.
The Museum also offers specific Sensory-Friendly sessions. During these sessions, over 70% of the existing exhibits will be modified to reduce lights, noise and movement. With these modifications, and a reduction in traffic flow during the identified times, families will have the opportunity to interact with exhibits in the way that best meets their family’s sensory based needs.
What makes these sessions sensory friendly?
- 70% of the exhibits are modified with reduced lighting, sound and movement.
- A Quiet Room is available
- The Museum’s Book Nook allows families time to relax and enjoy some time with a book.
- The Museum’s café (and gift shop) will be open for families to enjoy snacks and drinks. Please note that food and drinks are not permitted in the exhibit areas and must be consumed in the café.
- A small number of weighted vests in limited sizes are available to be checked out.
Reservations for each Sensory-Friendly Session must be made through the Museum’s website. Admission is free, and tickets become available one month before each session. Reservations are required, as space is limited to help ensure a calm and comfortable environment for all families.
Families will receive a $2.70 parking discount sticker at check-in for use at the Museum Center Park garage. Street parking is also available along Wisconsin Avenue.
