SUMMARY:Healthcare Hangout for Teens
DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for this free event\, designed specifically to work toward building comfort and ease when visiting a member of the medical community. Medical students from the Medical College will facilitate fun activities and games to teach participants about healthcare! \nHalf of the session will be planned for social and fun activities and the other half will be some learning center rotations aimed at teaching medical basics combined with a healthy dose of interactive learning opportunities. \nThe overarching goal of this program is to build confidence and ease for participants when needing to interact with members of the medical community in the future\, as well as to practice social interaction with a diverse group of people. \nThe more we can help our teens get comfortable with their medical health and the professionals that assist in their care\, the better advocates they will be for their future. \nParents can stay on campus or hangout nearby. Call us if you have questions. \n*Note to parents: If your child has dietary restrictions\, please provide an alternate snack for them to eat. \nClick Here for more information and to sign up today! \n  \nGetting there:\n8701 W Watertown Plank Road\, Milwaukee WI 53226. Medical Education Building\, Room 2585 \nUpon exiting I-41 at Watertown Plank head east. Turn right (South) on 87th Street. \nFor drop-off turn right (West) on West Connell Ave\, and then turn right (North) into the roundabout entrance in front of Building A. \nFor parking\, lots are available in front of Building G or the main visitor lot on 87th St. \nThe building entrance is through Building A (Health Research Center)\, which is the front entrance of the Medical Education Building. \nThe first and final room where everyone will be meeting up will be Room 2585 on the second floor. We will have a table downstairs on the main floor for check in. \nView map below for more instruction!

Our friends at Hayat Pharmacy will be joining us for a not-so-scary Halloween Party and Sensory Friendly Vaccine Clinic! Come dressed up in your favorite costume and enjoy some spooky snacks and creepy crafts while getting caught up on routine vaccines. Flu\, COVID\, RSV\, and pneumonia vaccines will be available for individuals aged five and up. \nWhat makes this vaccine clinic sensory friendly?  \n\nHayat pharmacy and their staff are a sensory friendly trained clinic. \n\n\nNurses adapt to the needs of the patient\, instead of the patient having to adapt to the norms of a typical clinic. \n\n\nCommunication boards will be available for use.  \n\n\nVEI (Vaccine Education Initiative) kits are available for use! These kits include: noise reducing headphones\, shot blockers\, fidget toys\, stickers\, and a “What is an Accessible Vaccine Kit?” information card.  \n\nPlease remember to bring an ID and insurance card to receive your vaccine! \nClick here to register today!
