Milwaukee\, WI 53217 \n  \n\nGet ready to dance the night away at the St. Francis Winter Formal for teens with special needs aged 14-19 years old!\n\n\n\nYou’re invited to the Winter Formal on Friday\, December 12th from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM\, as we step into a magical Winter Wonderland! \nGet ready for music\, milestone photos\, laughter\, and unforgettable memories! \nDressing up is completely optional—come as you are and ready to dance\, connect\, and enjoy the evening! The night begins with Red Carpet Drop-Offs from 5:30 to 6:00 PM\, followed by a warm welcome from our Executive Director. Gluten-free appetizers will be served at 6:00 PM\, and dancing will be happening all night long. \nThis special evening is designed for teens ages 14–19 who have a support need or special need\, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you. To make the night more meaningful and fun\, each teen is kindly asked to bring a plus one—whether that’s a close friend\, sibling\, or family member. There’s no age limit for plus ones; we just ask that they be someone special who makes you feel supported and comfortable. \nTo attend the Winter Formal\, families must reserve one free ticket in advance per teen-plus ones are included for the teen since we are kindly requiring a plus one. Tickets are required to attend\, and no walk-ins will be accepted in order to keep the event safe and organized. We kindly ask guardians to secure tickets by the end of November\, unless they sell out earlier. DESCRIPTION:WisconSibs Sibshops are workshops for children and teens who are brothers and sisters of children with disabilities or long-term illnesses. \nYouth Sibshops (ages 8-12) are a spirited mix of new games (designed to be unique\, off-beat and appealing to a wide ability range)\, new friends and discussion activities. \nTeen Sibshops (ages 13-17) focus on self-esteem building\, peer connections and topics related to being a sibling of someone with a brain-based disability through activities and discussions. \nSibshops are guided by trained facilitators (school psychologists\, teachers\, counselors or adult siblings\, for example) in small\, age-appropriate groups. This Open Play is for children with special and-or support needs of all ages and their families. These events offer opportunities for children to play in a safe space surrounded by like-minded parents who understand the experiences of one another. \nWhen weather allows\, St. Francis opens their large fenced playground\, secure for children who elope. Each session\, there will be two crafts for participants to take home along with the open play activities. Guardians\, please reserve tickets for children only. DESCRIPTION:WisconSibs Sibshops are workshops for children and teens who are brothers and sisters of children with disabilities or long-term illnesses. \nYouth Sibshops (ages 8-12) are a spirited mix of new games (designed to be unique\, off-beat and appealing to a wide ability range)\, new friends and discussion activities. \nTeen Sibshops (ages 13-17) focus on self-esteem building\, peer connections and topics related to being a sibling of someone with a brain-based disability through activities and discussions. \nSibshops are guided by trained facilitators (school psychologists\, teachers\, counselors or adult siblings\, for example) in small\, age-appropriate groups. During this time\, exhibits will feature adjusted lighting and quieter soundscapes\, creating a more comfortable environment for visitors of all ages. \nFamilies can explore together and enjoy hands-on activities on every floor\, designed to encourage curiosity and play. Kids can hunt for dinosaurs with Dino Bingo (and earn a prize!)\, discover fascinating bug features in the Bugs Alive! exhibit with a take-home activity sheet\, and even do an ancient art activity.
