SUMMARY:Autism eXchange Annual Conference and Staycation
DESCRIPTION:We’re thrilled to invite you to the Autism eXchange Annual Conference and Staycation\, a gathering dedicated to advancing understanding\, support and innovation in Autism research and services in your community! The conference brings together a diverse group of experts\, advocates\, caregivers\, and individuals on the Autism Spectrum to share insights and strategies that make a difference. \nOur goal is to empower individuals by fostering a sense of community\, connecting them with valuable resources and supports\, all while offering a fun\, safe\, and sensory-friendly environment. This conference promises to be an enriching and memorable experience for all. \nWhat makes it a “Staycation”? \nOne of the things that makes this conference unique is that Autism United has worked with the Wilderness Resort to offer Sensory Friendly experiences throughout the resort for the Staycation weekend. This includes sensory friendly arcade time at the Wilderwoods Arcade and a modified waterpark experience throughout the resort. We have also worked with partner organizations to integrate family-friendly activity spaces throughout the conference to make this conference truly fun for all. That’s right\, kids are welcome to come to this event! \nLearn more here.

SUMMARY:Big Emotions Workshop with Bloom360
DESCRIPTION:One of the best ways we can support and nurture our young adults and children is understanding how they uniquely experience and respond to the world! Individuals make sense of the world through how their body and brain receive\, organize\, and respond to sensory input. Sometimes a person’s response to sensory stimuli can be over-reactive (really big) or under-reactive (shut down)\, leading to big emotions and big behaviors. \nIn this workshop you will: \n– Learn that behavior is communication \n– Understand how sensory processing leads to a deeper connection with your neurodivergent individuals. \n– Gain strategies/tools that honor individual differences in times of big emotions. \nNote: $5 refundable reservation fee required to reserve your spot. To be refunded when you attend the event. Forfeiture of refund if you do not show up to the workshop. \nAfter the workshop\, participants will receive their deposit back and each family or household will receive a complimentary copy of “Brain-Body Parenting” by Dr. Mona Delahooke\, Ph.D. Families will also receive light snacks and refreshments. \nCLICK HERE for registration

SUMMARY:Healthcare Hangout for Teens
DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for this free event\, designed specifically to work toward building comfort and ease when visiting a member of the medical community. Medical students from the Medical College will facilitate fun activities and games to teach participants about healthcare! \nHalf of the session will be planned for social and fun activities and the other half will be some learning center rotations aimed at teaching medical basics combined with a healthy dose of interactive learning opportunities. \nThe overarching goal of this program is to build confidence and ease for participants when needing to interact with members of the medical community in the future\, as well as to practice social interaction with a diverse group of people. \nThe more we can help our teens get comfortable with their medical health and the professionals that assist in their care\, the better advocates they will be for their future. \nParents can stay on campus or hangout nearby. Call us if you have questions. \n*Note to parents: If your child has dietary restrictions\, please provide an alternate snack for them to eat. \nClick Here for more information and to sign up today! \n  \nGetting there:\n8701 W Watertown Plank Road\, Milwaukee WI 53226. Medical Education Building\, Room 2585 \nUpon exiting I-41 at Watertown Plank head east. Turn right (South) on 87th Street. \nFor drop-off turn right (West) on West Connell Ave\, and then turn right (North) into the roundabout entrance in front of Building A. \nFor parking\, lots are available in front of Building G or the main visitor lot on 87th St. \nThe building entrance is through Building A (Health Research Center)\, which is the front entrance of the Medical Education Building. \nThe first and final room where everyone will be meeting up will be Room 2585 on the second floor. We will have a table downstairs on the main floor for check in. \nView map below for more instruction!
