SUMMARY:Sensory-Friendly Evening with The Betty Brinn Children's Museum!
DESCRIPTION:Sensory-Friendly Sessions\n\n\n\n\nThe Betty Brinn Children’s Museum offers countless opportunities for children to learn about and explore their world through play. Through interactive and hands-on\, experiential learning exhibits\, participants engage in real-time experimentation and exploration to see how things “work”. \n\n\nAutism United of Wisconsin has partnered with the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum to support specific Sensory-Friendly sessions. During these sessions\, over 70% of the existing exhibits will be modified to reduce lights\, noise and movement. With these modifications\, and a reduction in traffic flow during the identified times\, families will have the opportunity to interact with exhibits in the way that best meets their family’s sensory based needs. \nWhat makes these sessions sensory friendly?  \n\n70% of the exhibits are modified with reduced lighting\, sound and movement.\nA quiet Sensory Room is available to re-regulate or calm.\nWe are asking all families to bring your Sensory Go Bags\, but the museum does have a limited number of “Access Bags” available if needed\nA small number of weighted vests in limited sizes are available to be checked out. (an ID is needed for check out)\nA “Reading Zone” with bean bags and flexible seating allows families time to relax and enjoy some time with a book.\nAccess the cafeteria for a quick snack or a break. Please note: Food is not allowed in any of the exhibit areas of the museum except for in the cafeteria.\n\nRegistration for each event is required through Eventbrite so that e-tickets for free admission and a specific “Know Before you Go” can be emailed to the family prior to the event. Families must present the e-ticket upon arrival at the museum. \nFamilies will receive a $3.00 voucher to offset the price of parking in the structure\, bringing the cost to $6.00 (from $9.00). Street parking is free if families would like to take advantage of that option. \nThis event would generally cost a family of four $29.00 ($5.00/ticket and $9.00 for parking)\, and you are receiving this benefit as part of your Autism United of Wisconsin Membership! \n\n\nSessions\n\n\nWhen:\nSaturday\, September 5\, 2026\n5-7PM \nWhere:\n929 E. Wisconsin Avenue\nMilwaukee\, WI 53202\n2nd level of the Miller Pavilion\nFor directions and parking\, click here.
