SUMMARY:First Stage Next Steps Program
DESCRIPTION:One-Week and Two-Week Sessions\nAugust 11–22\, 2025\nMonday – Friday\, 9 AM–12 PM  \nAbout: Designed for students on the Autism Spectrum\, Next Steps classes help students take their next steps as an artist and a person. First Stage creates a safe space for all students to express themselves and develop as individuals without judgment or fear of failure. Guided by our philosophy of teaching life skills through stage skills\, students will experience the joy of theater arts each day with a team of teaching artists and special education professionals. Classes designed for students on the Autism Spectrum entering grades 3-12 in Fall 2025 . \nClass Sizes: Our classroom model includes teams of lead teachers\, special education professionals\, and teaching assistants with approximately a 2:1 student to teacher ratio. Family aides may accompany a student to class as necessary and agreed upon between the family and First Stage.  \nNext Steps Curriculum: Explore character\, relationships\, action and text while developing overall acting skills and confidence.\n \nRegistration: Please contact nextsteps@firststage.org or call (414) 267-2941.

SUMMARY:Sensory Playtime at the WJ Niederkorn Library
DESCRIPTION:Join Autism United of Wisconsin as we partner with the WJ Niederkorn Library to offer FREE fun\, interactive sensory playtimes! The sensory playtime program is set up as a variety of tactile\, sensory activity stations where children (under 13 years old) are free to explore with their caregiver. Each month there is a different theme. Stations may include shaving cream\, sand\, water\, and/or food items. Dress to make a mess. \nResearch shows sensory play supports children in their brain development\, language development\, gross and fine motor skills\, as well as improving their ability to socially interact. Stop by for a little while of stay the whole time. Registration recommended\, but not required.
